Multipath forwarding strategies in Information Centric Networks with AIMD congestion control

چکیده
A content can be replicated in more than one node, in Information Centric Networks (ICNs). Thus, more than one path can be followed to reach the same content, and it is necessary to decide the interface(s) to be selected in every network node to forward content requests towards such multiple content containers. A multipath forwarding strategy defines how to perform this choice. In this paper we propose a general analytical model to evaluate the effect of multipath forwarding strategies on the performance of an ICN content delivery, whose congestion control follows a receiver driven, lossbased AIMD scheme. We use the model to understand the behavior of ICN multipath forwarding strategies proposed in the literature so far, and to devise and evaluate a novel strategy. The considered multipath forwarding strategies are also evaluated in a realistic network setting, by using the PlanetLab testbed.

Enhanced Forwarding Strategies in Information Centric Networking
Network use has evolved over time to be dominated by content distribution and retrieval, while networking technology is mainly concerned with connections between named hosts. Accessing contents and services require the mapping of what users care about to where the content is located. Information Centric Networking (ICN) is a new paradigm in networking and a future Internet architecture which tr...
متن کاملSurvey Of Cross Layer Based TCP Congestion Control Techniques in MANET
In mobile ad hoc network (MANET), congestion is one of the most important limitations that affect the performance of the whole network. TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) are the reliable protocol for communication because of their connection oriented behavior. Multi-path routing protocol can balance and share the load better than the single path routing protocol in ad hoc networks, thereby re...
متن کاملMinDelay: Low-latency Forwarding and Caching Algorithms for Information-Centric Networks
We present a new unified framework for minimizing congestion-dependent network cost in information-centric networks by jointly optimizing forwarding and caching strategies. As caching variables are integer-constrained, the resulting optimization problem is NP-hard. To make progress, we focus on a relaxed version of the optimization problem, where caching variables are allowed to be real-valued....
متن کاملExploiting the efficiency and fairness potential of AIMD-based congestion avoidance and control
Additive Increase Multiplicative Decrease (AIMD) is the dominant algorithm for congestion avoidance and control in the Internet. The major goal of AIMD is to achieve fairness and efficiency in allocating resources. In the context of packet networks, AIMD attains its goal partially. We exploit here a property of AIMD-based data sources to share common knowledge, yet in a distributed manner; we u...

WSN are distributed networks with small, light weight wireless sensor nodes. These sensor nodes cooperatively monitor the environment to measure the physical parameter such as temperature, pressure etc. It is data centric. When sensor nodes detect an event, it become active in collecting and transmitting the data, which cause congestion and results in packet drops, decrease in throughput and re...
